DSNY Commercial Organics Requirements

July 12, 2022

Since July 31st, 2020, some Food Service Establishments in New York City have been  required by law to separate their organic waste. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NYC Department of Sanitation extended its warning period in which they did not issue fines for violations of the organic separation law. That warning period will now end on July 31, 2022. If your Food Service Establishment meets the minimum requirements outlined HERE, you must comply with the Commercial Organics Rules by July 31, 2022, which is when penalties will start being issued for violations of the law.
