Today Concealed Carry Gun Laws Takes Effect
As a reminder starting today, Thursday, September 1st, new provisions of the law passed by the state Legislature in response to the Supreme Court's decision ruling that New York's century-old proper cause gun licensing provision violates the Second Amendment goes into effect.
The new law states that concealed carry licensees are not permitted to bring guns into certain defined "sensitive locations," which includes bars and restaurants that serve alcohol, and entertainment venues.
Restaurants that don’t serve alcohol may prohibit customers with concealed carry licenses from their premises with a gun, or they may permit concealed carry license holders to enter.
The City of New York has developed a FAQ that we recommend you read and created template signage that you may voluntarily hang informing the public of the law and/or your businesses policy.
